Ryu Requests Deactivation of Pedestrian Buttons
To help curb the spread of Coronavirus, City Councilmember David Ryu is asking LA Department of Transportation to deactivate pedestrian push buttons at cross walks.
LADOT has already begun deactivating pedestrian crossing buttons in some high-traffic neighborhoods, such as Hollywood, Koreatown, Westlake and MacArthur Park, to avoid exposing pedestrians to the virus via touch contact.
"I ask that you consider expanding the deactivation of pedestrian crossing buttons in neighborhoods throughout Council District Four, particularly in Los Feliz and Silver Lake," Ryu wrote in the request.
Ryu has introduced a host of legislative priorities since the beginning of the spread of the Coronavirus. More information can be found here.
